Finger is a hinge joint and organ that allows movement only in one direction. Considered to be a part of the hand, the fingers are made of bones called phalanges and though each finger moves independently they are inter connected by tendons and muscles thus making completely free movement of each finger difficult.
Joints in the fingers are perhaps the most delicate and joined with the hand they work as a machinery to aid you in daily activities, manipulating movements and causing sensations in the hand to hold or grasp things. Working of the hand would be impossible without fingers as they comprise of a network of tissues and muscles that are inter linked and dependent on each other.
Pain, swelling or numbness causing loss of motion in the fingers arising out of an injury caused by machine work, playing sports or self inflicted or a medical debilitating condition such as arthritis or trigger finger, might result in laceration, crushed tissue, fracture or expose a bone.

These treatment techniques start by anti inflammatory non steroid medications and then move on to corticosteroid injections if the patient is not relieved of the pain. Avoiding activities that enhance pain in the fingers are advised to be avoided for a few days and the fingers may be tied with a splint ( it varies in time period according to the condition or disorder) or buddy taped to rest or immobilize the movement of the fingers.
